The first time I heard this song, I thought it was so romantic but
when I listened to the lyrics it was not about a love story written
on a diary. It is rather about the realization of truth that the
person that you are in-love with (your wife) is not in-love with you.
Imagine your situation in the man's shoes. How would you react if you

Letting someone go is the hardest specially if you're the clingy one.
This is one of reasons why there are some people who just prefer not
to fall in-love or be attached because once the love is not there
(specially at this time and age) it's easy for the person you love to let go of

like this because it's like a payback to the one who let you go
because he wants freedom a.k.a. “space” (I need space.). It's
also sad because regret ,which is what the song is about, is quite
tormenting specially if it has something to do with love. It is something that
cannot be undone.
